    DLAB, DLI, Females

I am not quite sure about all that goes into the crypto-intell job, i passed my DLAB, and the Marines at what my recruiter calls headquarters tell me that i will go to DLI, that females rarely get this chance, and that my chances of getting arabic are high, even though i am fairly fluent in japanese and am studing korean at the moment.
I am wondering if anyone knows what my chances would be of getting perhaps korean, or another asain language and maybe how many female Marines are at DLI. Also what is i guess you would call it the process to getting to DLI, After bootcamp i know you go to MCT but then where do you go from there and how do you get there, are you allowed to have a car at DLI?

Thank you in advance for any help.

You will go to boot, then MCT, then MOS school, then to the fleet. I do not know much about DLAB or DLI, but I heard the school is pretty laxed and I believe that is one of the few schools you can bring a vehicle (not 100% sure). You will know for sure if you can bring a vehicle once you graduate MCT- it will be printed on your orders. Most Marines end up with arabic studies due to the current demand for those skills, but if you are already fluent in asian languages, the Corps may decide to keep you in those fields.

Sorry I can't be of much help. I would leave this question to the other Marines, but I doubt they will be able to help much. There aren't many language specialist Marines in the Corps, and I don't think there are any who frequent this site.

I used to be a 2674. Spanish linguist, so I went to DLI. Your orders will not allow you to take a car there. But once you check in to DLI you can have your car. Second, the school is not lax. I have no idea where that idea came from. If you already know a language you need to take the DLPT for that language. PM me if you have more specific questions.

    Bootcamp-MCT-DLI-Goodfellow-Fleet that is the pipeline.

Goes to show how little I know about linguists. I didn't even know the Corps had spanish linguists... I learn something new every day.

I am a 2671 (Arabic Crypto linguist) currently an instructor at Goodfellow (267X Tech school) so I see pretty much every Marine that graduates DLI. Getting there and having a car is exactly how Jackson said it will be. Your chances of being put into an Asain language are slightly that being in Arabic, but Korean is our second most populated language (language selection is loosely based on your DLAB score). There are plenty of females that go through DLI so don't let that concern you. Lastly, if you don't DLPT in the languages you already know before DLI, you will want to after. You get paid more FLPP if you know more than one language. Hhope that helps. If you have any more questions PM me.
